Babylonstoren Specials Collection Tour, by Ernst van Jaarsveld

On this tour visitors get to spend an hour with horticulturist and botanist extraordinaire Ernst van Jaarsveld, learning more about his special chosen collection ̶ whether it be cycads, or succulents. These plants take up a special space in the garden – they are beacons of horticultural significance and interest. Ernst will share his unique interpretation of the garden including what he finds interesting and noteworthy at this time of the year.
As an author of many books on indigenous gardening, waterwise plants and succulent species, Ernst is regarded as an expert on a variety of topics relating to gardens.
When Ernst is not tending Babylonstoren’s indigenous garden, you’ll find him doing research and documenting his botanical findings, somewhere on a canoe or hiking expedition in search of interesting and rare plant species to add to our collection.
He may be a master in his field, but he does not keep his knowledge to himself – his wisdom is generously shared with garden visitors and colleagues alike, and all agree that his passion is contagious.
