The Story of the Herb House Garden
A fragrant wild herb and flower garden.
When Bridget Kitley had to move her Herb Nursery in 2010 she planted all her mother stock in the Herb House garden. She planted the herbs in places where they would grow best. The garden therefore has a large variety of herbs. A curry tree grown from seed is now a beautiful 2.5m sacred tree.
Jenny Muntingh stayed in the Herb House after the 2017 drought. She reestablished Bridget’s garden and added more flowers and herbs for example Daisies, Forget me Not’s, Poppies, Origanum and Chillies.
In 2020 Carla, Christoff, Camille and their 3 x furry friends moved into the Herb House. Fragrant Rose climbers, a lemon, lime and tangerine and olive trees, indigenous jasmine, and violet flowers arrived. With secret tunnels, a tree house and deck in the planning.
The Herb House Garden has been a gift to all its custodians and visitors. There is love, peace and wildness to be found in the garden. Birdsong, geckos, chameleon hiding on a branch, lizards, butterflies, bees and the lingering smell of honeysuckle, lavender, sage, jasmine…
